Position Title: Social Worker – Senior (Identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander - Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit)

Location: Southport, QLD, 4215

Remuneration: $128 169 - $137 918 per annum

The new SMHRU unit offers mental health rehabilitation services for individuals needing extended inpatient care in a secure environment. Our focus is on autonomy, self-determination, and working collaboratively towards independent living. All consumers are over 18 years of age.

About Your New Role

Are you looking for a role with real meaning and purpose? Gold Coast Health have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker – Senior (Identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) to join our newly developed Secure Mental Health Unit and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

 Key Responsibilities

·     Lead and support effective and efficient communication and clinical practice to ensure culturally safe care and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients

·     Provide high-level evidence-based clinical assessments, interventions, care and discharge planning

·     Lead and contribute to quality activities to improve service delivery for improved patient outcomes

 Qualifications

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community
  • Tertiary degree in Social Work
  • AASW membership eligibility
  • Driver Licence
  • Blue Card/Working with children check
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

·     Permanent full time

·     Base salary ranging from $128 169 to $137 918 per annum
