Join DCP as a Senior Tristate Community Worker in Alice Springs supporting Anangu families across SA, WA and NT through strong community partnerships.

  • Full-time term vacancy available until 28 February 2027
  • Additional Child Protection allowance on top of salary
  • Fully funded return flights home.

Role Status: Full-time temporary vacancy available until 28 February 2027

Remuneration: AHP2 $91,785 - 106,330 / PO2 $91,565 - $106,074 plus 12% superannuation  

The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Tristate Community Worker to join our Far North team, based in Alice Springs. In this role, you will work with children, young people and families to provide support in the community and strengthen outcomes.  

This is a unique opportunity to work in a cross-border role supporting Anangu families across South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, in partnership with NPY Women's Council and local communities.

This is a single vacancy offered under a dual classification and may be filled as either a Senior Social Worker (AHP2) or Senior Professional Officer (PO2), depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead collaboration across SA, WA and NT child protection systems

  • Work alongside NPY Women's Council and local communities to support the safety and wellbeing of Anangu children and families

  • Build strong partnerships with Aboriginal organisations, cultural leaders and service providers

  • Coordinate information sharing and referrals across jurisdictions to ensure timely, effective support

  • Contribute to strategies that strengthen family functioning and promote family-led decision making.

About You

You are an experienced practitioner who thrives in collaborative, community-based environments. You bring strong knowledge of child protection practice, respect for Aboriginal culture, and the ability to navigate complex systems.

You build trusted relationships, communicate clearly, and take initiative in dynamic environments.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background or skills but do not have the essential qualifications, are highly encouraged to apply.

Salary

AHP2: $91,785  - $106,330 p.a. + 12% super + 4% child protection allowance

PO2: $91,565  - $106,074 p.a. + 12% super + additional child protection allowance

A Qualification Allowance may be applicable if you hold an additional relevant qualification.

Special Conditions:

Essential for AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers

Essential for PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
