Apply your practical skills and tertiary qualifications in Social Work and make a positive difference to the lives of children and their families.
The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a multi-functional human services and community-focused agency that works to provide responsive, safe and quality services and programs that empower communities and improve social outcomes for all Territorians.
As a Team Leader Carer Services (P3) you will provide leadership and professional support to Carer Services staff. You will be responsible for managing resources, developing and maintaining effective collaborative and strategic alliances, as well as implementing corporate requirements. You will lead a dedicated team of professionals across the Top End and Arnhem regions to deliver high quality assessments, promote carer recruitment and coordinate and monitor registration of quality foster and kinship carers in compliance with legislation and departmental policies and procedures. You will be responsible for the delivery of integrated statutory and non-statutory welfare services to vulnerable children and families. Your role will ensure the delivery of a high level of service to carers through the provision of professional expertise and demonstrated best practice under the Care and Protection of Children Act. As a member of the Department’s management team you will contribute to the overall management of the office and promote an integrated best practice approach to service delivery.
To be successful, it is essential you have completed a tertiary qualification which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, Community Worker Australia or the Australian Psychological Society or equivalent. Your strong understanding of the principles and functions of delivering statutory and non-statutory welfare services, conducting strength-based assessments, developing and delivering effective interventions, and demonstrated capacity to interpret and apply complex legislation will contribute to your success in the role. In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner.
In return, you will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package including 12% Superannuation, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, additional 3 days paid leave over Christmas, 17.5% annual leave allowance, support to grow and develop your career, and the unique opportunity to experience the variety of work.
If you reside outside the territory, this is a great time to consider relocating to the Top End and Arnhem region and relocation assistance may be available.
Based in Darwin, you will have the opportunity to travel across the Top End and Arnhem regions experiencing landscapes and cultures that are truly unique.
This is your chance to make a real difference to the lives of Territorians, both young and young at heart and experience an array of what the NT has to offer, including a rich-multi-cultural society and unique communities.
