About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and experienced Indigenous mental health professional to lead and deliver culturally safe and responsive wellbeing services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in a tertiary education setting.
This role is ideal for someone who is committed to improving mental health outcomes, fostering cultural safety, and supporting student success through therapeutic counselling, case management, and health promotion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of an Indigenous Student Wellbeing Program.
- Provide culturally appropriate counselling (individual and group), case coordination, and advocacy.
- Collaborate with Indigenous student support services and other internal stakeholders to ensure holistic care.
- Build and maintain referral pathways with external community agencies.
- Contribute to health promotion, training, and wellbeing initiatives across multiple campuses.
About You
You will bring:
- Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related field, with current registration (AHPRA for psychologists or AASW for social workers).
- Demonstrated experience providing culturally responsive counselling to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience supporting clients with complex psychosocial needs in high-demand environments.
- A commitment to cultural safety, continuous learning, and inclusive practice.
- Valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
