About the Service – Forensic Mental Health Focus
This position sits within the Community Forensic Outreach Service (CFOS), part of Queensland’s Community Forensic Mental Health Service. CFOS provides high-level clinical risk assessment and therapy for individuals who have committed, are alleged to have committed, or are at risk of committing an offence.

A newer component of CFOS is the CFOS Therapy Service, which delivers formulation-driven psychological interventions tailored to complex clinical presentations. In addition to direct clinical work, this role supports consultation-liaison services and capacity building across general mental health teams and regional Hospital and Health Services (HHS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist forensic mental health assessments and therapies
  • Conduct joint assessments and collaboratively review management plans
  • Work closely with community mental health services across Townsville, North West Queensland, and Mackay
  • Provide consultation-liaison support and transitional care planning
  • Educate and mentor mental health staff on forensic topics and legislation
  • Participate in Assessment Risk Management Committee (ARMC) meetings
  • Lead clinical governance, training, and supervision initiatives
  • Contribute to service improvement and quality monitoring

Who You Are

  • Registered with HCPC or equivalent UK professional body
  • Eligible for registration with AHPRA (support available)
  • Experienced in forensic, trauma, or high-risk settings
  • Skilled in supervision, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Ready to relocate to Townsville, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef

    • Base salary AUD $128,169 - $137,918 per annum

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
