Who we’re looking for
Our Pathways to Resilience team at Narre Warren is looking for two Family Violence Therapeutic Specialists to provide intensive counselling and clinical case management to adolescents who use family violence, making a huge difference to their lives.

If you're a qualified Counsellor, Social Worker or Psychologist or in another relevant discipline (including eligibility with the relevant professional association), enjoy variety in your day and working clo sely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we're looking for!

You will have extensive experience working within family violence, child protection and/or in working with children and/or adults experiencing complex trauma environments. You’ll bring a strong person-centred approach and a demonstrated understanding of relevant family violence risk assessment frameworks and appropriate application of these within the therapeutic practice environment.

These positions will be offered in a part-time or full-time capacity funded to 30 March 2022

What you’ll be doing
As the Family Violence Therapeutic Specialist, you will deliver intensive 1:1 counselling and clinical case management that includes a comprehensive safety, well-being assessment, development of a care plan, therapeutic assessment and intervention, referral to external services and usage of assertive outreach/engagement strategies.

  • Engage with and assist young people who are at risk of a range of negative consequences because of their use of family violence.
  • Strengthen their emotional well-being, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strengthen the young person’s relationships with siblings, peers, and other family /community members,
  • Promote and strengthen positive parent-adolescent relationships
  • Deliver a group work therapy that focuses on behaviour change and skills development

Who you’ll be working with
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of other Therapeutic Specialists, Peer workers, a Team Leader and Program Manager working in collaboration with other Therapeutic specialists within partnering agencies.
