The Department for Child Protection has multiple exciting opportunities to join the Playford team as a Social Worker or Case Manager!


About the Department

The Department for Child Protection (DCP) plays a key role in the protection of children, young people and their families within South Australia. The department provides support to vulnerable children and young people to be safe, strong and connected. 

About the Opportunity

Start or consolidate your career with the DCP Playford office!  We currently have multiple short term opportunities to join our employment pool as a Social Worker or a Case Manager.

In this role you will provide effective case management services which respond to the needs of children and their families aligned to appropriate statutory guidelines.  You will have the opportunity to assess the needs of children and families, and then plan and deliver a range of intervention strategies which safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to assist families who are unable to effectively and safely care for their children and work in partnership with them to support a safe return of the child/children to their care.  You will also work with children who have entered into the care of the Chief Executive and ensure that their development, stability and security is achieved.

About You

We are looking for motivated, organised individuals who have the ability to understand factors that contribute to child abuse within the context of child development, parenting, family and environmental factors and confidently apply this understanding to your work and the decisions you make.  To be successful, you need to a good communicator and team player and you will have the ability to develop strong networks with key professionals and families.  You will also be required to use your problem solving skills to respond to the needs of children and young people and ensure they are safe and free from risk.

About the Pool

We are establishing a pool of suitable candidates who have successfully completed a selection process for this role.  Should you be successful, you will be advised (in writing) that you have been recommended onto this pool.  The pool will remain active for 12 months and during this time you may be contacted an offered employment. You are not required to accept any or all offers made to you, and DCP is not obliged to offer you any opportunities.

Please note: DCP reserves the right to advertise similar positions outside of this pool process.

Essential Qualifications

AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
