Senior Court Child Expert – FCFCOA (Psychologist/Social Worker)

Job Description

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced social worker or psychologist who is looking to take the next step in their career.

With the recent launch of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the Court Children’s Service (formally known as Child Dispute Services) has been expanded, and its role broadened, so as to enhance the assistance it provides to families and judicial officers making decisions about arrangements that are in the best interests of children.

The work of the Court Children’s Service (CCS) is undertaken by Court Child Experts (CCEs) and Regulation 7 Family Consultants.  Services delivered by CCS include providing family assessments at both the preliminary and final stages of proceedings, and assisting registrars in undertaking dispute resolution conferences.

The Senior Court Child Expert leads a local team of Court Child Experts to ensure that the work undertaken by CCS in that location is of a high standard and in line with national policies, directions and guidelines.  Senior Court Child Experts also contribute, as part of the national CCS leadership group, to the continuous improvement of CCS operations and practice.

Applicants must have:

·         A recognised degree in social work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or a degree in psychology and general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board/Ahpra

·         Extensive relevant experience working with children and families

·         Ability to provide clinical leadership and professional supervision

In addition to rewarding work and competitive remuneration, the Senior Court Child Expert position offers the following benefits:

  • An additional three days of paid leave following the Christmas/New Year closedown period
  • A 15.4% employer superannuation contribution rate
  • Salary packaging options
