South West Healthcare’s (SWH) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) base predominately in Warrnambool is a specialised and highly proficient team seeking applications from committed and dynamic mental health professionals to join them and provide experience, growth and development.
About the role
The CAMHS Mental Health Clinician positions provide an opportunity for health professionals to work in a multidisciplinary team to develop specialist skills in crisis assessment and a range of interventions for children, young people and their families including but not limited to: eating disorders, autism, early intervention and infant mental health.
The position is responsible for providing recovery oriented and trauma informed care, by utilising natural and existing community supports as required in the South West area, incorporating Warrnambool, Hamilton, Portland and Camperdown regional areas. The team provides a treatment service which includes direct clinical treatment to consumers and families including short and long term case management. The role includes assessment, short and long term intensive case management, including evidence based treatment interventions of a high standard.
The Mental Health Clinician works with others using systematic mechanisms that ensure regular communication and the flow of information with other clinical staff and professionals, families, and stakeholder groups located both internally and externally to South West Healthcare.
What you bring
As an experienced Clinician (Social Worker, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist) you will have a sound appreciation of evidence-based contemporary child, adolescent and family mental health practices. Experience in triage, comprehensive assessment, psychological interventions or related activities is desirable for the position.
The role requires sound knowledge of: child and adolescent mental health presentations and interventions; relevant mental health and child, youth and family legislation; and a working knowledge of Recovery Oriented practice and Trauma Informed Care.
The successful applicant/s must have excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills and initiative with proven ability to work autonomously and within a team, as well as an ability to demonstrate good judgement, work planning, decision-making abilities and organisational skills.

Employment Terms and Conditions will be in line with the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement 2016-2020 or Victorian Public Health sector (Medical Scientists, Pharmacists & Psychologists) Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021, with the appropriate classification Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3, Allied Health Professional Grade 2 or Psychologist Grade 1 or 2.
