Forensic Clinical Consultant 

  • We are searching for a Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 5, Social Worker Grade 4 or Occupational Therapist Grade 4 to take on a Forensic Clinical Consultant role
  • Ongoing Full Time or Part Time position
  • Based in Northern Community Care Unit, Preston

Your new team

  • The Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS) provides a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Darebin and Whittlesea.
  • Our team of specialist clinicians want you to join them in providing innovative, recovery focused care

  • Clinical Programs provided by the NAMHS include Adult Community Services (3 Community Teams), Adult Acute Inpatient Service (50 beds), Emergency Mental Health (EMH) including Police and Clinical Emergency Response (PACER), Consultation, Liaison Psychiatry Service at the Northern Hospital, Community Care Unit and Prevention and Recovery Care Service (PARC)

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Play a key leadership and practice development role in the NAMHS
  • Provide practice support including advice, secondary consulation and direct assemssment for identified high risk and or consumers with an offending history. 
  • Assist in development of comprehnseive risk assememt and managment plans for idenitifed high risk consumers
  • Be the key liaison for services such as VicPol, community corrections, prison services and Forensicare

Your Contribution

  • Extensive experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment of mental illness/psychiatric disability
  • Demonstrated commitment and extensive experience in forensic oriented mental health practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for self and for team members.
  • Understanding of the policies and procedures associated with the Mental Health Act, Crimes Act, Sentencing Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Familiarity with a range of computer software packages (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, CMI)
