We support 44 primary and secondary schools across Sydney’s North, Northern Beaches and Central Coast and educate over 16,500 students.

About the role

St Peter's Catholic College Tuggerah has an opening for a part time split permanent (0.4 FTE) / temporary (0.2 FTE) appointment to provide support and mental health assessments for secondary aged students. Teacher conditions apply to this role, which is inclusive of school holidays. Occasionally, duties will require a variation of hours.

About you

You are an experienced Psychologist or Social Worker and will be registered with an appropriate professional association (i.e. APS or AASW). This is a requirement for the role.

Essential Criteria

  • Understanding and commitment to the ethos of Catholic education.
  • A strong understanding of current research and practice in the field of children and adolescent mental health, wellbeing and education.
  • Experience in counselling adolescents using evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience in the administration of cognitive, emotional and behavioural assessments and mental health screeners.
  • Knowledge of current child protection legislation.
  • An ability to work independently and collaboratively within and across teams to achieve educational improvement and positive wellbeing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • Knowledge of the NSW Education Act (1990).
  • Experience with facilitating therapeutic groups or delivering professional learning.
  • Experience in facilitating proactive and preventative programs that develop social and emotional skills.
