Make a real difference where it matters most
The Department of Children and Families works alongside children, families, stakeholders and communities to create stronger, supportive communities where every child can feel safe, healthy, happy and supported to thrive.
Working within our Regional Services Big Rivers team, you will play a vital frontline role supporting vulnerable children and strengthening families and communities. As Child Protection Practitioner or Senior Child Protection Practitioner, you will be part of a dedicated team, working collaboratively with families, communities, and partner agencies to deliver statutory welfare services. You will work to prevent harm to children through early support and intervention and keep the child's wellbeing and culture at the centre of every decision.
To be successful, you will hold an Australian tertiary qualification in social work or psychology, which gives eligibility for membership with relevant professional association bodies. You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, and have a strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, family and community structures, and the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner. Highly developed skills in conducting strengths-based assessment, deliver effective interventions, and demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex legislative framework are essential.
Travel for up to two weeks at a time may be required, whether by road or light aircraft.
As part of our team, you'll enjoy a range of benefits, including competitive remuneration, generous leave entitlements and allowances, and opportunities for professional development. With six weeks recreation leave, three weeks personal leave and three days Christmas closedown leave, with relocation assistance potentially available. You'll have the support to balance work and life while building a rewarding career. You'll also have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference for children, families and communities.
