Job Description

Role Status: Full-time temporary vacancy available until 17 December 2027
Remuneration: AHP2 ($94,997 - $110,052 per annum) / PO2 ($91,565 - $106,074 per annum)

Role Details:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Social Worker or Senior Case Manager to join our Kinship Assessment and Long-Term Guardianship team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. In this rewarding role, you will be assessing and supporting kinship and long-term carers, gathering and reviewing relevant information, and using professional judgement to make informed recommendations about suitable care arrangements.

This is a single vacancy offered under a dual classification, meaning it may be filled by either a qualified Senior Social Worker (AHP2) or Senior Professional Officer (PO2), depending on the qualifications and suitability of the successful applicant.

Essential Qualification:

  • AHP (Allied Health Professional) positions require applicants to hold a Social Work qualification and be eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • PO (Professional Officer) positions require relevant qualifications in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or other related fields.

In this role, you will:

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments for kinship care and guardianship arrangements.
  • Deliver informed recommendations to support carers and maintain effective communication and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Support carers with guidance throughout the assessment process to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in care.
  • Provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Identify risks to placement stability and collaborate with carers and support services to strengthen placements and address ongoing support needs.

About You:

  • You have strong assessment and written communication skills, with the ability to gather and document sensitive information accurately.
  • You have a robust understanding of child development and South Australia’s child protection systems and processes..
  • You are proficient in adapting to changing priorities, work effectively in dynamic environments, and support others to achieve team goals.
  • You have experience in planning, developing and implementing interventions aimed at meeting the needs of clients, families and the organisation.
  • You can apply culturally responsive child protection practices when working with Aboriginal people and CALD communities.

Salary and Benefits:

AHP2: $94,997 - $110,052 per annum + 12% superannuation

  • Additional 4% Child Protection Allowance.
  • Professional Development Allowance, entitlement to claim reimbursement of eligible professional development expenses.
  • Qualification Allowance (may apply if you hold an additional qualification relevant to the role).

PO2: $91,565 - $106,074 per annum + 12% superannuation

  • Additional Child Protection Allowance.
