Job Description

Role Status: Multiple full-time term vacancies available
Remuneration: AHP1 ($71,217 - $86,938) / PO1 ($68,478 - $83,594) plus 12% superannuation

We are seeking multiple Practitioners to join the Long Term Guardianship  - Specified Person team on a full-time basis. Based in the Adelaide office, you will have the opportunity to support children and young people under Long Term Guardianship (LTG) Orders, by providing professional guidance and assistance to access relevant services available to support development, stability and security.

These vacancies can be filled by either a qualified Social Worker (AHP1) or Professional Officer (PO1), depending on relevant qualifications and experience.

Essential Qualifications:

  • HP (Allied Health Professional) positions require applicants to hold a Social Work qualification and be eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • PO (Professional Officer) positions require relevant qualifications in  Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or other related fields.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP). 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide a liaison service to children under LTG Orders and their families
  • Work to improve outcomes for children in out-of-home care across all areas of development
  • Undertake assessments and accurately document the needs of young people and their carers
  • Support conflict resolution between guardians and birth families if mediation is unsuccessful
  • Conduct annual reviews to ensure accurate financial support is in place.

  • You can identify children's needs through an understanding of child development, parenting capacity and environmental factors
  • You can assess the needs, wellbeing and development of children and young people and form clear professional opinions
  • You can manage your workload, plan tasks and prioritise competing responsibilities effectively
  • You build and maintain strong working relationships to support positive outcomes for children and families
  • You communicate clearly in writing, including preparing accurate and concise reports on sensitive information.

Salary:

· AHP1: $71,217  - $86,938 p.a. + 12% super

+4% child protection allowance

+Professional Development Allowance

+Qualification Allowance may apply if you hold an additional qualification relevant to the role.

· PO1: $68,478  - $83,594 p.a. + 12% super

+additional child protection allowance
