The Role:

This newly created Allied Health - Practice Improvement Practitioner position offers a unique opportunity to shape the role and make a lasting impact. As part of the CYMHS leadership team, you will lead initiatives that strengthen workforce capability, promote evidence-based practice, and support service reform.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate workforce education and training programs aligned with CYMHS priorities.
• Promote and facilitate evidence-based practices across CYMHS settings.
• Lead and manage research and project work focused on practice improvement and integration.
• Build and maintain partnerships with universities and educational institutions to support clinical placements and learning opportunities.
• Provide specialist advice on workforce development and service improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate projects that enhance quality and safety standards, including risk management and compliance with legislative requirements.

You will need:

• Demonstrated expertise in child and youth mental health, with the ability to lead change and foster a culture of evidence-based, person-centred care.
• Strong skills in education and workforce development, including planning, implementing, and evaluating training programs.
• Experience in research, project management, and developing practice improvement initiatives.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build effective partnerships and networks.
• A commitment to child safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances: 

• Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Locations:
There are 2 positions available, one in the South based in Hobart and one in the North/Northwest. Please note: that the North/Northwest role can be based either region, but will require travel between locations.

Northern Tasmania

• Office based in Launceston CBD.
• Northern Tasmania is an area of natural beauty where you will have easy access to the Cataract George, waterfalls, bush walks, beautiful beaches, and excellent mountain biking tracks.

Northwest Tasmania

• Office is based in Burnie and Devonport.

Southern

• Office based in Hobart City Centre

Essential requirements:

• Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
• Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licenses that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licenses remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/license is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Desirable Requirements:         

• Five or more years post-graduate experience in the child and youth mental health sector or similar role (clinical and/or education/development).
• Holds or is working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in the child and youth mental health sector field and/or Education/Training and Assessment.
• Current Driver’s Licence

Position Features:
