Job Description

The Position

The Accreditation Assessment Support Officer is a key member of the Higher Education Accreditation team at the Australian Association of Social Workers. Reporting to the Senior Accreditation Officer, this role supports the implementation of the team’s accreditation workplan and ensures the effective delivery of accreditation functions for Higher Education Providers across Australia.

The position will facilitate the smooth operation of the accreditation process while ensuring adherence to AASW values and high standards in social work education accreditation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Accreditation Officer with ongoing engagement with HEPs.
  • Provide procedural and practice advice, guidance, and support to accreditation assessment panels.
  • Help evaluate accreditation applications and evidence portfolios in alignment with the Australian Social Work Education and Assessment Standards (ASWEAS).
  • Undertake data collection and evaluation tasks to support accreditation activities.
  • Offer secretariat support to the Accreditation Council, contributing to high levels of stakeholder satisfaction.

Key selection criteria

  • Tertiary Qualification or higher in Accreditation/Auditing/ Social Work or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of compliance and/or auditing processes, including (desirable) compliance or accreditation.
  • Understanding of the Australian higher education environment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting an executive team, committee, Council or Board to implement policy or processes in a complex environment, preferably within regulation or education.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex administrative processes and understanding, interpreting and applying standards, procedures and policies, preferably in regulation or education.
  • Highly developed and effective written, oral and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability in writing accurate and concise reports, agenda papers and letters, and presenting information to committees and/or teams.
  • Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines and deliver accurate quality work, as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, responsive, coping well under pressure, responding and adjusting easily to changing work demands and circumstances.
  • Well-developed relationship building capabilities across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Well-developed ability to exercise judgment and resolve issues and problems within established guidelines and agreed thresholds of risk and complexity, and escalate issues as required.
