The Position

This position is responsible for delivering responsive support and engagement services to AASW members, acting as a key point of contact for enquiries across all practice areas. It involves providing tailored advice, assisting members in navigating their needs, and ensuring a seamless end-to-end member experience as well as providing support and guidance across a broad spectrum of social work areas for internal and external stakeholders.

The position supports stakeholder engagement, contributes to events and projects, and collaborates with internal teams, including Social Policy and Advocacy, to address member concerns. It also plays a part in member recruitment, retention, and communications, strengthening the value and impact of AASW membership.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a proactive and trusted point of contact for AASW members, providing tailored advice and support across all practice areas via phone, email, and other communication channels including the Community Hub
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end member experience by effectively identifying needs, resolving queries, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery aiming for first contact resolution
  • Lead the delivery of the Social Work Advisor service in collaboration with all internal stakeholders providing expert guidance and facilitating timely responses to member enquiries and concerns.
  • Proactively collaborate between members and internal AASW teams including the Social Policy and Advocacy and Member Services team to ensure member voices are heard, concerns are addressed, and insights inform advocacy efforts.
  • Foster strong and strategic relationships with key external stakeholders and institutions to support and grow member and non-member engagement initiatives.
  • Plan, coordinate and contribute to the successful delivery of engagement activities, events, and presentations—both online and in-person—including programs such as Fellowships, Mentoring, Credentials and student outreach with potential interstate and overnight travel required.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support the promotion and delivery of AASW events, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and member interests.
  • Actively participate in the development and execution of member growth, engagement, and retention campaigns and initiatives.
  • Develop and contribute engaging content for the AASW website, publications, and other member communication channels to inform, update, and inspire the membership community.
  • Manage member and stakeholder feedback with professionalism and responsiveness, using insights to drive continuous improvement in services and engagement.
  • Complete administrative tasks and project-related work efficiently to support the seamless operation of the Member Engagement and Growth team.
  • Act as an advisor to internal AASW staff and stakeholders on a range of social work areas

Essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work.
  • Extensive senior professional experience across the range of Social Work areas.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to tailor writing to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel regularly interstate (and sometimes overnight)
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • High level organisational skills, including managing work deadlines and managing information.
  • Analytical problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Highly skilled in the use of MS Suite of products, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previously experience in the health or allied health sector.
  • the role of social workers in a range of settings and programs.
  • and experience in consultation processes with a range of stakeholders.
  • the role of professional association and/or peak body.
  • Is currently a member of the AASW
