About the Role:
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Forensic Court Liaison Officer within our Forensic Mental Health service.
The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is a leading provider of public healthcare services in South Australia.
As a vital member of the Forensic Mental Health team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Your expertise will be invaluable in assessing, coordinating and facilitating the delivery of mental health services to individuals within the court and correctional environments. The position is based at Christie's Beach Magistrates Court with a fortnightly requirement to attend for team meetings at Modbury. The role works with Magistrates, lawyers and prosecutors to ensure accurate information is provided and clinical assessments are conducted of overnight custodies that present to the court on a daily basis. The role also liaises with a range of services included mental health services and non government organisations in relation to any mentally ill offenders presenting before the court. The role will complete formal court ordered reports in relation to mentally ill offenders where required.
In this challenging yet rewarding role, you'll collaborate closely with legal professionals, mental health teams and community service providers to ensure the provision of high-quality, patient-centred care. Your strong communication skills and ability to navigate complex situations will be instrumental in advocating for the needs of vulnerable individuals.
To be eligible for this position as a Social Worker, you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
To be eligible for this position as a Clinical Nurse, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
