About The Faculty Of Health Sciences:

The Faculty of Health Sciences comprises three schools: Allied Health, Behavioural and Health Sciences and Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine. There are currently approximately 14,000 students (EFTSL) and 530 (FTE) staff in the faculty under the disciplines: occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work, exercise science, exercise physiology, nutrition science, biomedical science, nursing, midwifery, paramedicine, physiotherapy, psychology and public health. The Faculty's current research priorities focus on Cardiovascular Disease and Metabolism, Health Services Research, Nutrition, Sports Performance and Rehabilitation, Psychology and Mental Health. About Social Work:

The Social Work Program at ACU offers a Bachelor of Social Work (Pass and Honours) and a Master of Social Work (qualifying) on each of three campuses (Brisbane, Canberra, Strathfield). About the role:

As Senior Lecturer, you'll provide academic leadership in teaching through the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of social work programs and curriculum. As a senior member of the Social Work team, you'll play a key role in achieving excellence in social work education and ensure the integration of theory, research and practice in the preparation of students for professional social work practice.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Developing, teaching and coordinating units at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and assessing students enrolled in social work degree programs.
  • Contributing to academic planning and development, rationalisation of courses and coordination of programs and review.
  • Actively participating in the accreditation and review of existing programs and in curriculum development.
  • Contributing to the development of social work knowledge through research and publication.
  • Building relationships within the professional community to support student professional practice experiences and provide, when required, supervision to social workstudents undertaking field placements.
  • Engaging in a program of research, achieving outputs and impact in line with standards for the appointment level and discipline.

You will need to have:

  • A social work professional qualification and a post-qualification higher degree (Doctor of Philosophy or Clinical Doctorate) in Social Work or a closely related field.
  • Full membership or eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Work.
  • Demonstrated capacity to implement effective teaching and learning at the higher education level and evidence of initiative or innovation in practice which contributes to supporting students and creating inclusive learning environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the nexus between teaching, research and scholarship in approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and a strong research profile and ability to supervise research students.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, effectively utilizing available expertise and pursuing excellent outcomes.
  • An ability to take personal responsibility for achieving high quality outcomes in a team environment, utilizing self-reflection, understanding of organisational context and an aspiration for excellence.

This position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) (ACT only).

Total remuneration valued to $154,846 - $168,247 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $130,847 - $142,171 (pro rata) pa (Academic Level C), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
