JOB DETAILS
Mental Health, Maitland
Temporary Full Time (up to 22/04/2012) 
 
To assess and address the psycho-social needs of clients of the Hunter Valley Mental Health inpatient service and their families/carers to ensure quality client centred and systemic clinical interventions. This practice will be embedded within a recovery framework that promotes wellness and enables functional independence, social empowerment and enrichment. As a member of the multidisciplinary team reflect the value base and stance of the social work profession.
 
Selection Criteria:
-Degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of AASW.
-Ability to undertake culturally respectful psycho-social assessments with clients with a mental illness and their families/carers.
-Ability to co-ordinate and conduct community education and training in the needs and issues of people with a mental illness and their families/carers.
-Ability to exercise independent judgement and apply a Social Work value base whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
-An ability to demonstrate practice associated with mental health recovery in individual casework, family intervention and group work.
-Ability to apply Social Work values and principles when working within a mental health multidisciplinary team.
-Ability to work effectively within an interagency framework.
-Evidence of high quality written and oral communication skills with ability to use Word/Excel/Access/Power point and hold a current drivers licence.
