The Department for Child Protection needs your help in protecting and caring for children and supporting young people at risk. As a Child Protection Worker you will provide an invaluable service to the community by promoting the safety and well being of children, and working with families to make positive changes in their lives which ensure the safety or their children.

We have a number of opportunities available in our District Offices across the Metropolitan area, including in our Crisis Care (a 24/7 service, staff employed on a shift-work roster system), Fostering and Adoptions services.

Applicants who have obtained their qualifications outside Australia will be required to have their qualifications assessed by the Overseas Qualifications Unit, Department of Education and Training Western Australia or another recognised body.  Visit www.det.wa.edu.au/training/oqu/ for more information on how to get your qualifications assessed. 

As an applicant you will need to:

· know about family dynamics, child development and issues in the protection and care of children and young people;

· be passionate about working with children and families to make positive changes;

· be able to engage with families and identify potential risks to children;

· have the ability to work with a diverse range of clients from various cultural backgrounds.

 What’s on Offer?

The Child Protection Worker role is the entry point for people professionally qualified to work in child protection.  Applicants with the required qualification will be paid under the Specified Calling salary range of $55,677 – $76,337 pa.

This Child Protection Worker Pool is an open pool, with no end date. Meaning you can apply at anytime!

·         A degree certificate, and for all qualifications other than a Bachelor of Social Work, a degree transcript and unit outlines/outcomes. Please note your application may not be assessed if we do not receive these documents.

The Department for Child Protection has an established Qualifications Framework for assessing the tertiary qualifications of applicants for all Child Protection worker positions. If you have a Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Psychology (4 years) or a Qualifying Masters of Social Work, you need to supply your degree and transcript with your application.  For all other qualifications in addition to your degree and transcript you will need to supply your unit outlines/outcomes to assist the Specified Calling Qualifications Assessment Committee in assessing your suitability for the Department's Child Protection positions against the Qualifications Framework.  A copy of the framework and descriptors are attached for your information. 

Please note original copies will need to be sighted at interview.
