Title: Senior Community Mental Health Clinician

Registered Nurse, Mental Health | Social Worker | Occupational Therapist | Clinical Psychologist | RPN4 | AH3 equivalent, 0.8 (64hrs) Permanent position

  • Great opportunity for a Senior Clinician permanent position in Community Mental Health skills with work life balance at 4 days a week
  • Located at Melton Health Community Services centre and co-located with Community Health, Family services and Drug and Alcohol clinicians

  • Diverse integrated mental health team with incorporating the specialist positions of a Community Nurse Practitioner, access to a Forensic Clinical Specialist and Employment Consultant

The Outer Community Team at MidWest Area Mental Health Service are a welcoming and supportive diverse group of multi-disciplinary clinicians who value the specific contributions of nurses to the treatment of our consumers with often challenging and complex mental health presentations.  We will provide the opportunity to work in an integrated community model of care that offers you flexible work days with a combination of acute / brief interventions and ongoing / longer term clinical care depending on your individual areas of experience and interest.

 Your new Team

  • Provide recovery oriented assessment and interventions in collaboration with consumers/ carers/families.
  • Assist in the provision of primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services, community development and education, liaison and linkage to other agencies that also provide support to people with mental illnesses as required.
  • Ensure all client centred activities are accurately documented in the appropriate format within the clinical patient file in a timely manner.
  • Work in collaboration with your multi-disciplinary mental health team.

Your Contribution

  • Hold a relevant clinical qualification, and display demonstrated skills in the principles and practice of working with people presenting mental health issues.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years’ clinical mental health experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers
  • Experience in the implementation of evidence based treatment models and interventions for complex mental illnesses
  • Ability to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
