Horizon Career Centre offers four Telephone Career
Services. Please note all of our services are
free, however consultations, counselling and coaching
are only available to AASW members. Before calling
we encourage you to

question may be there!

consultation, counselling or coaching appointment please

the document that guides us in our work with you. If

Career
Guidance
Unscheduled guidance available to people seeking information,
resources and referrals regarding Social Work and Human
Service tertiary studies (undergraduate and postgraduate);
Australian human service jobseekers looking for work
in Australia; overseas Social Workers interested in
(or in the process of) migrating to Australia (for
International Qualifications Assessment information
please visit the main AASW website
www.aasw.asn.au);
and Australian Social Workers interested in working
overseas.
Career
Consultation
Scheduled 45 minute appointments (up to 3 in one AASW
membership year) to provide feedback and suggestions
to improve résumés, selection criteria
and assist with job interview preparation. Please
note we don’t write your résumé or
selection criteria for you. The purpose of this service
is to educate and equip you so you can prepare these
important and highly personal documents for yourself.

Counselling
Scheduled 45 minute appointments (up to 3 in one AASW
membership year) to help members reflect, clarify and
articulate their career needs and aspirations; and
then discuss how to take proactive steps to purposefully
build their picture of the future.
Career
Coaching
A personalised and scheduled career coaching program
for members who want assistance developing and implementing
an action plan to create their career picture. At least
one Career Counselling appointment is required (3 is
recommended) before a Career Coaching program can be
developed. Each appointment is 45 minutes with
up to 5 available in one AASW membership year.
PRESENTATIONS
Horizon Career Centre staff use
Creating
YOUR Social Work Career as the basis
for seminars and workshops with Social Work students
and practitioners. If you are interested in
organising a presentation for your university, workplace,
local network or conference, please contact us on

PUBLICATIONS
Horizon Career Centre staff are regularly
sought out to write articles and columns on Social
Work career issues. If you would like to discuss
how we may be able to contribute to your website,
newsletter, magazine or text book please contact
